Monday of the Fifth Week of Lent

What does it mean 'to know' someone? Is it sufficient to simply receive information about this person and then suddenly feel like you know them? We have been told so many stories, let alone history of events and personalities, but what are the conditions for knowing them and they knowing you?

How much does it take to know anyone, and to trust and believe that what they are saying is true? It tends to become particularly difficult where there are no pointers. The one direct pointer Jesus had was St. John the Baptist. After that, we typically have to rely on the Torahs, as well as His Works to understand that He is the Christ.

The general law of the universe demands us to be good, considerate, and not to be manipulative, or even take advantage of others. This is called “Love”.

What, then, happens when faith manifests itself in Love. It will certainly yield undisputable truth. So much so that when Truth presents itself, it cannot be missed by those who know it and seek it. Those who love truth will be drawn to the Truth, and will not doubt it; Love can only dwell in (or identify with) those who familiarise themselves with truth and justice, for which love is derived and hope is ensued.

The faith of Abraham lured him to understand that there is something beyond tangibility: that which is unseen, but yet is the founder of his being; the foundation of every being. He understood what every man must understand and seek: his creator, to Whom he ought to render worship, praise and thanksgiving. So, how can we truly identify with the Good Shephard, and not just assume that, but indeed know that we know Him?

God bless you!
