Light:
What is light? What does it mean to love darkness? It is presumed, that if one is not engaged in church activities and are withdrawn from society, they love the dark and dislike the light. If the context is reverted, it is common to realise, that while many people engage and get active with each other in familiarity, small and untamed defects are entertained. Deception becomes the ruling force and only a handful of the community really live truthfully. Most marriages have overtime failed to hold because one of the partners assumes that to be at church and neglecting the family is the 'holy' thing to do; we spend more time gossiping and presuming that we are in prayer of the challenged neighbour in question. Children have been raised carelessly and today, not much reverence is given to the holy place of God, because of the spirit of relativism.

So, what does it mean to love the light (Matthew 6:22-23; Isaiah 33:15)? We know what the two greatest commandments are: to love God and to love our neighbour (love humankind) (Matthew 22:36-40). So, what are the best practices? A couple of examples, which Christ Himself gave us, uncover the value of hidden gems: prayer in private and without babbling (Matthew 6:5-7), alms giving in secret (Matthew 6:2-4), do not self-praise and moreover in comparison to others (Matthew 6:1; Luke 18:10-14), fasting without inconveniencing others (Matthew 6:16-18); basically, every action we make should not carry along an alarm bell (Matthew 6:19-21) (this in many cases refers to the storing of material wealth, but I write of the publicly gathered attention).

Nonetheless, we need to stand bold for the faith that we hold.

God bless you!
